Beware of Order Gatherers August 01 2018 2 Comments
What is an order gatherer you ask, & why should I be concerned?
There are lots of 'order gatherers' advertising on the internet these days, I wont mention any names, but I'm sure if you really look at the online florists your ordering flowers from, you'll soon spot the difference.
How to order flowers for Valentines Day on the Northern Rivers February 03 2016 4 Comments
FLOWERS FOR VALENTINES DAY - ALL YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED!
Valentine's Day is a day to celebrate love – new, old, romantic, platonic and everything in between. One of the most common ways to express your feelings is by giving flowers. However, not all flower arrangements are created equally and not all types of flowers are appropriate.
So what should be a joyous, romantic and fun-filled holiday often turns into an angst-filled, hand-wringing and nerve-racking experience for both men and women.
Grabbing a bouquet at the corner flower stand will always work in a pinch, but to really captivate someone special in your life, head to your local florist and put some thought into it.
A Rose is a rose is a rose is a rose
Before you order a dozen roses and call it a day, reconsider. Although roses are standard for Valentine's Day, is "standard" the sentiment you really want to convey?
Perhaps you could consider an assortment of flowers and include SOME roses, this being a cheaper alternative and in some cases, may increase the longevity of the flowers.
Think before you order
With a few mouse-clicks, you can easily search for arrangements online by price, type of flower and delivery options. No fuss, no muss. But where is your order going? Do you have a REAL FLORIST?
In this day and age, there are no guarantees that the florist you are ordering from is a legitimate flower shop, but instead an ordering service situated in an office somewhere in the world.
Note that companies like Roses Only, 1300-flowers, Petals, Ready Flowers and Easy flowers are NOT florists and DO NOT CARRY FLOWERS. These organisations are order-takers that take your payment and — after pocketing a sizable portion — pass on the remainder of your money to a REAL FLORIST to have an arrangement delivered.
How to make sure your dealing with a REAL FLORIST?
- Is the phone number a local number?
- Is the business address local?
- Do they have in store photos?
- Do they have a Facebook page?
- If you phone, ask where they are located
Calling or visiting a florist in person will ensure a more personalised experience.... we would love to meet you!
Alternatively......Ordering via Flowers in Paradise Wesbite is a no fuss time saver, you can choose from our wide selection of flower designs & gifts. Make sure you include as much information as you possibly can to help our delivery guy get them there first go.
The team at Flowers In Paradise Ballina deliver to: Ballina, Byron Bay, Lismore & surrounding area - places like Bungawalbin, Booyong & Billinudgle....... for a small fee of course!!
PERSONALIZE IT
Take a few minutes and think about your situation.........."Is this a hot romance or have you just started dating? Is it for a single friend or a parent? How old is the person?" all of these things determine the style, size & type of flowers to buy.
To create even more "wow" factor personalize your flowers by adding something sentimental or ask the team at your local Ballina Florist, Flowers In Paradise, about our first-class range of gourmet chocolates, fun selection of Balloons and adorable range of soft toys and teddy bears.
If you order early enough you can customize the gift further by choosing a theme such as, Where did you go on your honeymoon? Does she/he have a favourite flower or colour? Is there a favourite vase if so bring it in we’re happy to use it!
Now that you’ve personalized your gift, don’t neglect the card message. You don't have to be a professional greeting card writer to create a sentiment that touches your partner's heart.
If you’re feeling too embarrassed or intimidated by sharing "sweet nothings" with your florist, don’t be, we’ve been doing this for many years, we’ve seen & heard it all! We’re happy for you to bring your own hand written card with you.
If the entire process is too overwhelming and you're still not sure what to do you can always “leave it to us!”
Based on your situation, you might want to consider the following:
Age Range |
Recommendation |
20 and under |
Gerbera daisies |
20 – 30 |
Cubed glass containers |
40 – 50 |
Roses |
60 and above |
Blooming plants |

Sister-in-laws Visit April 07 2015
We spent the day yesterday at busy Bangalow perusing the shops & lunching at the lovely Italian restaurant on the corner. It was great to sit and enjoy the passing traffic, with beautiful food & great service.
Tomorrow morning I will be dragging her out of bed early as we're off to the Gold Coast to pick up flowers. Most of our flowers come from Melboune these days, all except for our roses which come from Columbia. Why roses from Columbia you might ask? Well mainly because they are enormous & they last forever!
This is an arrangement we did for a lady a week or two ago in these magnificent roses.
What do you think is it worth having them sent all that way??
Lets see if we last the week with out tearing each others hair out!!
